OPEN MY EYES                                                       for Archie
BY JACKIE BAYER

Verse 1: The window that I’m looking’ out
Is dirty and unclear.
I can’t see what’s ahead
Or what is drawing near.
My mind is broken
And shattered to nothing.
I don’t know what my
Window will bring…

Refrain: Open my eyes
So I can see it all
Open my eyes
To the light of day
I never thought my window
Would be a wall
Between me and
The constant way…
So come with me
And we’ll run free.
Thanks for opening
My eyes for me.

Verse 2: How long have I
Been sitting here,
Trying to look out
For what I fear?
It’s clear to me now—
I can’t look out anymore.
My foggy window
Is not my door…

Refrain: Open my eyes
So I can see it all
Open my eyes
To the light of day
I never thought my window
Would be a wall
Between me and
The constant way…
So come with me
And we’ll run free.
Thanks for opening
My eyes for me.

Verse 3: How did you know
To come to my rescue?
How did you already see
That I was true?
But it’s now alright,
We’ll be okay.
I finally threw
My dirty window away…

Refrain: Open my eyes
So I can see it all
Open my eyes
To the light of day
I never thought my window
Would be a wall
Between me and
The constant way…
So come with me
And we’ll run free.
Thanks for opening
My eyes for me.

Bridge: I got a new window
To see what’s ahead.
I have also cleared
My heart and head.

Come with me
To look out my window…

Refrain: Open my eyes
So I can see it all
Open my eyes
To the light of day
I never thought my window
Would be a wall
Between me and
The constant way…
So come with me
And we’ll run free.
Thanks for opening
My eyes for me.

Thanks for opening
My eyes for me.

This was a song i wrote one day after school. i guess i had a lot of fun writing it, because i was really proud of myself afterward (i like writing songs, but i never usually feel that proud). i kinda like the concept it portrays, and i might use it in the Songwriter Competition (American Idol), but i also have another song in mind, one i consider my pride and joy: Beside Me (Kate, you know this one-- it was the first one i sang in Chorus). So, watever!! =p
